Environmental Estate
A flagship project of Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn, the Eco-Park will be the main power energy source for the the larger 1,000 hectare Environmental Estate. Planned in the Estate will be up to 10-MW of solar panels and 20-MW of wind power. Known as Sinag I (in Tagalog, Sinag means "sunlight"), this project was inaugurated by the Mayor in 2008.

The Banyuhay Initiative was part of the community movement in the Philippines to promote a new consciousness and awareness about renewable energy resources. As an educational forum to exhibit and demonstrate the utilization of solar, wind, hydro, and bio-fuels, the Banyuhay Initiative leaders were able to advocate successfully before Congress to pass the Bio-Fuels Act of 2007 and the Renewable Energy Act of 2008, now both signed into law by Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
The Banyuhay Initiative continues to support the implementation of the following Renewable Energy priorities:
One of the largest master-planned clean-tech parks in the world, Sinag I is located in the City of Puerto Princesa, Palawan Province, Philippines. Included is a planned Solar and Wind Power Micro-Utility originated by the Asera Group. The project will provide up to 30-MW of clean and green power for the Eco-Park, located inside the 1,000 hectare Environmental Estate.
