Energy and Environmental Technology
Through a comprrehensive Wind Study conducted by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE), a Wind Atlas was published that identifed a total wind resource of over 76,000 MW of potential wind power projects in the Philippines.
The company has conducted wind resource and wind site assessments in the two provinces that have the highest wind potential in the Philippines. In both the Provinces of Palawan and Aurora there is between 2-3,000 MW alone of Class 3 or better utility-scale wind power potential.
The Asera Group, Inc. in collaboration with Local Government Units and the local Electrical utility cooperatives, will be conducting the feasibility studies for two major Wind Farm developments in the Philippines:
Palawan Eco-Park
The first is in the Province of Palawan within the City of Puerto Princesa at the 1,000 hectare Environmental Estate. This mountain ridges along the Princesa Bay are ideally suited for small wind farms. With average wind speed regime in the 6-7 m/s range and wind power densities over 400 W/m2, the City envisions up to 20-30 MW of wind turbines to be installed over the next three years. The City is promoting Eco-Tourism to attract resort hotels, recreational parks, and eco-friendly businesses to create green-collar jobs and clean technology enterprises.
Casiguran Wind Park
The Aurora Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) is planning a 10-MW Wind Park to be located in the Municipality of Casiguran. Preliminary feasibility studies indicate a Class 3 wind regime with wind speeds in the 6-7 m/s and wind power densities in the 300-350 W/m2 range. The ASEZA is planning a 1,000 hectare master planned mixed-use, agro-industrial complex to be located in the Aurora Pacific Ecozone or APECO. It is anticipated that the initial project will be a 10-MW Wind Park to be located in the APECO along the San Ildefonso Peninsula
